Power Management and users without custom content ability

(imported topic written by BFAdminCEC)

We have a large amount of console users that do not have the ability to create custom content (access control to prevent them from doing something bad). As we have been rolling out Power Management we have been asking users to schedule wake ups using the built in wizards. Since the users do not have the ability to create the custom content it appears they are unable to see or do anything with the wizards.

Is there any way to grant users the ability to use these wizards at a standard user level or do I have to grant them custom content for everything?

Hi. The current design allows only operators who have access to custom content to manage WoL schedules. Creating or modifying WoL schedules is an activity similar to creating/modifying fixlets, so it makes sense to me to have the WoL schedule wizard access restricted to operators who have custom content access. I’m afraid there’s currently no workaround to allow the other operators to access it.

There are a couple of other permissions things that need to be addressed - one to do with the “Create Custom Content” privilege being required to create an automatic group.

All operators having irrevokable access to BES Support fixlets and tasks is also really bad (current workaround is to globally hide the fixlets and tasks you don’t want them to see, but that hides them from ALL operators).
