Possible to add/edit unmanaged asset properties via REST API?

Is there any way to change properties, settings, or keywords on unmanaged assets programmatically, such as through the REST API?

My use case is that we have an external tool that maps MAC addresses to physical locations (building/room/etc.). For regular clients, we use the API to add settings with these external properties so that we can use them in reports and relevance.

I’m looking for a way to do the same for unmanaged assets.

Haven’t tried this myself and I don’t know it’s maturity, but there’s a proxy agent at https://github.com/bigfix/trask that might be helpful.
