Possible Client issues with Ubuntu 22.04 & agent 10.0.7

We have a Desktop experience image of Ubuntu & over the summer began integrations of supporting 22.04 over 20.04. With the 10.0.7 update in October now supporting Ubuntu 22.04 we have started cycle testing with BigFix included.

The rudimentary 10.0.7 ClientUI available to Linux devices works as expected in Ubuntu 20.04. The UI prompts a user for Take Action or Messaging as configured in the action. If messaging/take action settings are configured for a BES Action with the User presence setting configured to run with/without a user logged on; if no user is present the action runs as expected.

In our tests to date, the rudimentary 10.0.7 ClientUI available to Linux devices does not work as expected in Ubuntu 22.04. The UI will not prompt a user for Take Action or Messaging as configured in the action. If messaging/take action settings are configured for a BES Action with the User presence setting configured to run with/without a user logged on; if no user is present the action becomes blocked acting as though it believes a user is present but none is there.

When we check the BES log, it indicates there are problems detecting the user session & enters a back-off that 20.04 does not:

I wanted to know if others had seen these issues with Ubuntu 22.04’s desktop experience installs & if this is a known issue with the client.

Since the official guidance says Ubuntu 22.04 is first supported with BigFix agent 10.0.7; we have not yet attempted a back version of the client. We may try this to advise if the agent is functioning with 10.0.6 or not.

The user interface component of the client is displayed only if the user logs in choosing Xorg.

This limitation is documented for Debian 11 Ubuntu/Debian (64-bit) Installation Instructions

I will ensure we extend the note to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Viviana; we can confirm that selecting the Xorg option has resolved our ClientUI issue.
Thanks!
