Plaintext password in bigfix server's registry

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hey guys!

The bigfix server has a password in plaintext. In my case, it’s in HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\BigFix\Enterprise Server\FillAggregateDB\RemoteDatabases<servername>

The username - in my case - is a domain login, which is the account the fillaggregateDB runs as. And the password is up there in plaintext.

Is this really necessary to do? Is there a workaround you can recommend?

Thanks!

Wow this still hasn’t been fixed? What gives IBM?

As a workaround, you can authenticate via Windows credentials. The BESWebReportsServer service must be run as the domain user (which must be an Administrator on the machine).
