Patching on RHEL Sserver

we have installed BigFix patch(version 9.5), I would require the process to patch RHEL servers.

we have already subscribed (enabled) following sites

Linux RPM patching
Patches for Redhat Linux
Patches for Redhat Enterprise Linux
Patches for RHEL 5- native tools
patches for RHEL 6 -native tools
Patches for RHEL 7
patching support

can some one please help me with the detailed process to patch RHEL servers, let me know the configuration to be done on BigFix Console.

I was just working on the RHEL 6/7 and I used the instructions on https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/Tivoli%20Endpoint%20Manager/page/Using%20the%20Red%20Hat%20Subscription%20Management%20(RHSM)%20download%20plug-in to get me through this.

The only thing that took me a bit was there was a step that says “Note: You might see a different layout of the Red Hat Customer Portal from what is documented here. This is because the portal currently has two layouts. To see the earlier layout version of the portal, click Switch Back from the upper right side of the page.”. To follow the instructions past that, you need to click on the “Switch Back” as specified in this statement to see the UI the same as the documentation.

This method is not supported for RHEL 5 systems. I have not decided if we are going to use the RHEL 5 as we only have 5 systems left and we plan to get off those soon, so I probably cannot help with that one. I did do it a long time ago and from what I recall, it was not too difficult.

BTW, for RHEL5, there was a notice sent out that it is EOL. Here is an excerpt from the email

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 has reached its end of life today, March 31, 2017. For more information, see https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata. If you haven’t done so yet, update to the later versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
In line with this, BigFix Patch is no longer providing RHEL 5 content and will end its support in July 2017. Consequently, the Patches for RHEL 5 – Native tools site will be deprecated in July 2017. The site will have ‘Deprecated’ appended to the site name in the License Overview dashboard. For the earlier BigFix announcement related to the RHEL 5 EOL, see http://bit.ly/2lHdssx and http://bit.ly/2nWgWLV.
