Patching Adobe Reader DC

We currently run baselines for our third party patching. I am working on one for the month of October and realize there’s nothing available for patching Adobe Reader DC. Is this the same for everyone else?

I assume you are referring to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
It’s not supported by BigFix at the moment so there’s no content available.

AndyMeng, Yes, you are correct on the application and thanks for the information. That makes sense as to why I’m not seeing patches for it. I would assume that there are plans in the works since this is the most current version for Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Does anyone know if there is a place on the website somewhere that lists what applications are currently being supported for patching? OR maybe a road map of sorts to indicate the plan of supported products?

There is a wiki in Developerworks.

https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/Tivoli%20Endpoint%20Manager/page/Supported%20OS

You may refer to the section for supported third party applications.

Regards,
Sylvia

@k2wu Please refer to the link in the above post for the supported applications (it’s at the bottom of the page).

And I would suggest you open an RFE for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC if you want to see it sooner.
It also helps us to prioritize road map items.

An RFE covering Adobe Reader DC products and Office 2016 for Mac products.

Vote it up folks!

The good word is that BigFix is expanding their Mac patching support to hopefully eventually include Office 2016 and Acrobat DC patches.

In the meantime, the latest Office 2016 for Mac patches are already in another forum thread and on bigfix.me. And I just uploaded the latest Acrobat DC and Reader DC 15.009.20077 patches for Mac to bigfix.me.

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 15.009.20077 for Mac:
https://bigfix.me/fixlet/details/6331

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 15.009.20077 for Mac:
https://bigfix.me/fixlet/details/6332

Some notes on using them:

  • In my testing, I found that the Adobe patch will fail to install if Acrobat or Reader are currently open on the Mac. So there are two actions in the fixlet. One to install the patch by forcibly closing the application. And the other to install without closing the application, but maybe better to be used if no user is logged in.
  • In the relevance, you’ll notice the version is “15.9.20077”. That is on purpose and correct. It’s how BigFix was detecting the application version, at least in my environment.
  • Patches are the latest version using Adobe’s continuous track:

That link for the enhancement request isn’t valid anymore, for some reason. Here’s a current one for Acrobat and Acrobat Pro DC:

Howdy @alexk -

Thanks for the Acrobat Pro/Reader DC Patches on the Mac Side. I got the Windows side done and we currently rolled it out to QA Testing with our patching baseline a few days ago.

Here’s the content on bigfix.me for Acrobat Pro DC:
