Hello All,
I’m looking at how best to setup patching policies for Linux (initially Ubuntu and Redhat) which have no concept of patch Tuesday, patches are released as they become available.
If I have servers in multiple time zones in a PP with the following settings are these statements correct?
1/
Updates will be refreshed on last Sunday 00:00+24:00hrs based on WebUI server local time
2/
Updates will be downloaded starting first Sunday 00:00-24:00hrs based on target server local time
3/
Updates will be applied starting first Sunday at 00:00 based on target server local time
4/
Patching Window is 20 days
5/
If I want to control patching at a server level, I can use Maintenance Windows. The Maintenance Windows must fall within the time window starting “first Sunday at 00:00” and ending after 20 days. Using Maintenance Windows will only invalidate statement 3, statements 1,2 & 4 will are still correct.
Within the PP
Refresh cycle=Monthly
Day Offset=1
Week=Last
Day=Sunday
Time=00:00
WebUI Server Time
Within the Schedule
Event repeats=Monthly
Week=1st
Day=Sunday
Time=00:00
Client time
Patching schedule=21 days
Run within Maintenance Windows=Unticked
Download required files=1 day
Restart immediately=Yes (1 minute delay)
thanks
Mike
