I have a situation where I’m not sure how to configure BigFix for windows patch distribution.
We need to be able to “download” the patches to the relay from 1:00 to 5:00 am, but the distribution from the relays to the clients can be at any time.
Is it possible to make this separation? What?
Yes, you can run the File Precache Wizard from the Console.
Select the Fixlets for which you wish to Precache downloads, target the action at your Relay(s), and set the start time for 1am. Do not select the “Start downloads before constraints are satisfied” so the Relay doesn’t begin downloading until the 1am action start time.
JasonWalker, thank you very much for the answer, I did not know that wizard.
But i run the action so that it runs from 1:00 to 6:00am but the patches are so many and so large (a total of 7gb) that at 6:00am it hadn’t finished downloading and continued…
Is it possible to make it download one patch at a time? or eventually what if or if at 6:00 am the download not stops?
Start the downloads earlier?
Or you could set the pre-cache action to run for several days, but constrained by the ‘run between’ time settings?
