OS Deployment on more than 6 VMs fails

Hi,

I am trying to deploy Windows 2016 OS on 10 targets simultaneously. However it fails on two or more targets with, “This action failed to complete because the Management Extender plugin reported an error” and works for others.

Is there any limitation on the number of targets to deploy OS? If not, does any one have any idea about what is causing the above issue?

Does any one has idea about this?

This sounds like a PMR.

There are quite a few logs to look at for the OSD component that would require a support person to look at. There could be information on the BigFix server, but I am betting you will need to get on the OSD server itself and look.

I know that I have used OSD standalone in the past and was deploying to about 25 systems at the same time (unicast) and did not have issues. So from that end, you should be good, but hard to say for sure.

Thanks Martin.

I have access to OSD server. Could you please let me know which logs to check if you have any idea about it?

Other thing that I observed is, even if the task for OS deployment fails with “error”, it still deploys the Operating System on that particular target, but I am not sure how consistent it will be.

I am facing the same issue while deploying Windows 2o16, where if I starts OS deployment on 10 targets , OS deployment action is failing on 2 (number may vary ) targets with error as – “This action failed to complete because the Management Extender plugin reported an error” .

On one of the failed deployment target , OS deployment action failed with above error but activity started and completed successfully. Only OS deployment action returns “error” status.
While on other os deployment failed target OS deployment activity never started and it shows Binding menu on console.

Any help will be appreciated for resolving this issue.

Hello, I suggest that you open a PMR for this. Thanks
