Oracle Linux Patching

I don’t see an “Enable the Multiple-Package Baseline Installation feature” fixlet for Oracle linux like i do for Redhat, CentOS and Suse. How would I configure a baseline with multiple packages for an Oracle server?

Thanks!

Oracle Linux patches uses yum to download packages directly to the endpoint. The other sites you mentioned uses a download plugin, which uses the BigFix infrastructure to download, so those Fixlets help optimize baseline downloads and patching. Since Oracle Linux doesn’t use BigFix infrastructure to download (the endpoint downloads packages directly), there is no need for those Fixlets.

Hi Zevanty,

May I check whether the feature is not available for all oracle servers. Because I can see the enable multiple package for oracle 9 in website. Can please clarify.

Which Oracle versions are you looking for? There are separate sites for each major version. You may need a Master Operator to use the “License Overview” dashboard to subscribe to one of the other “Patches for Oracle Linux X” sites. We currently have them for Oracle 6, 7, 8, or 9.

I believe that each of them has equivalent “Multi-Package Baseline” tasks, but I don’t have them subscribed myself to verify. Make sure you have those sites and check for them.

Only OEL 9 has Multi-Package Baseline tasks (i patch OEL 6,7,8,9 in my environment).

Hi LouC,

Thanks for the information. Could you please let me know what else task or fixlets need to add in the baseline for enabling multiple package installation on oel 8 and oel 9.

Hi Jason,
Yes we have the license for oel 8. Please find below,

Have a look at the documentation but refer to my screenshot. The task names in the documentation are wrong (replace oracle with oel9): Installing multiple packages in a baseline. Also, remember to install the download plugin for OEL
