Oracle Java Licensing Changes

I don’t generally comment on other vendors’ products or licensing models, but upcoming changes to Oracle Java licensing may have some serious effects on some of our customers. If you are using Oracle Java in any form, be sure to understand the new terms and you may wish to reach out to your Oracle representatives.

I’d point out that in the “Updates for Windows Applications Extended” site, we already provide updates for two alternative Java runtimes on Windows - Amazon Corretto and Eclipse Temurin/AdoptOpenJDK. If you have an interest in other Java runtimes and would like us to add patching support for them, please don’t hesitate to let us know. The preferred place for feature/product requests is at https://bigfix-ideas.hcltechsw.com where they can be tracked & statused.

Microsoft actually publishes some nicely packaged OpenJDK MSIs that are handy to use.
