Operating system inspector

Does anyone know where the BigFix Client on Linux (OEL) gets the results from “operating system” from?

I have a client reporting back with an OS of “Linux kernel (Red Hat 4.8.5-36) (3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64)” which is abnormal from our standard (Linux Oracle Enterprise Server 7.1 (3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64)).

All the “release” files under /etc only refer to OL 7.1 / Oracle Linux Server 7.1.
uname -a returns: Linux xxxxxxx 3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 4 20:48:51 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

What info does the client use to build everything before the parenthesis within output of “operating system”?
