Office 2003 Patch Management

(imported topic written by tubs91)

Hello All

Wondering if anyone can help with this, I’m trying to get the Office patch management to work The PCs have office 2003 installed (I belive the process was OfficeXP, then upgraded to Office2003 - finally I’ve installed the Office SP2). I’m not exactly sure how these were installed to begin with though - I think it was from a CD on a master image (Non of the PCs actually have a CDRom in them) .

I’ve set up a Null share for an administrative install, this null share is accessable by “anonymous” users - tried it from a local computer with an account that does not exist on the domain.

Bigfix displays that there are fixlets needed (i’m only trying it on my PC at the moment), once I’ve allocated the fixlets it looks as if things are working and then they just fail.

Any ideas where I am going wrong with this?

Many Thanks

Craig.

Hi Craig,

Did you install Office originally with an administrative point install? If not, then use Network Install instead (most people don’t use administrative point installations).

Also, make sure you have followed all these guidelines:

No, it wasn’t orginally doen with an administrative share - I believe it was installed from a CD, that harddrive was then imaged onto the computers before BigFix was purchased.

I’ll look at trying to get the network install up and running then.
