Hi all,
We are evaluating BigFix, and I have a questions regarding patching Office 2003.
Our Office 2003 workstation installs are part of workstation image, and the images are created by installing Office 2003 from the CD. We have never used Administrative Install points. This has been a problem for patching in the past with our current patch system. The clients will sometimes sit and wait for a CD, defeating the purpose.
So on our BigFix test workstations, I used the “Office 2003 Deployment Control – Initial Assignment” fixlet to assign “Administrative Install” as the deployment methods, and I created an Administrative Install point. One of the test workstations is showing “Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 SP3 (Administrative Install)” as relevant. However, when I action this, I am not asked for the location of the install point, and the action fails. When I look at the event log on the workstation, I see that it is still looking for a .CAB file on the D:\ (CD-ROM) drive.
Am I misunderstanding how this works? Am I trying to do something impossible?
Any help I can get is appreciated.
Thanks,
- Steve
