Hello All,
I have a customer who is demoing BigFix/ESP, their network team is really reluctant to implement a DMZ relay (despite me going round and round with them on the benefits, etc). My question is relating to how actions that are set as policies or open-ended actions function when the client has no relay to check in with?
For example, if I set a policy for Trend CPM to “Update from the Cloud” as an action to execute every 4 hours with no end date, if the client goes offline from the BigFix/ESP environment (such as a laptop being taken home and no DMZ relay), will the action to execute “Update from the Cloud” still function? My customer has laptops that can go off the internal network for weeks at a time and having them get pattern file updates from the cloud without talking to the BigFix/ESP infrastructure is almost required because of their reluctance for a DMZ relay.
I’m just trying to get a handle on how off-network clients work (or don’t) without a DMZ relay.
Thanks,
Michael
