New update in BigFix OS Deployment and Bare Metal Imaging site v116

BigFix OS Deployment and Bare Metal Imaging site has been updated.

New OSD Bare Metal Server version 312.02 is available.

**Content available:**

**New Windows Bundle for OS Deployment **

HCL BigFix is proud to announce that a new Windows Bundle is now available and can replace the legacy MDT Bundle for managing Windows operating system deployment.

This is another example of how HCL BigFix helps to protect customer investments from market shifts while optimizing their return on investment.
This new Windows Bundle can be used for Windows bare metal deployments, re-imaging deployments and for image captures.

Customers can use either the legacy MDT Bundle or our new Windows Bundle solution.

**Please note**

  • The new Windows Bundle relies on a different technology based on PowerShell scripts, so any customizations made in the legacy MDT Bundle (based on VisualBasic scripts) are not compatible with the new Windows Bundle.

  • The legacy MDT Bundle will continue to function as long as customers can download the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) from the Microsoft website. However, please note that HCL BigFix will not release any new updates or fixes for the legacy MDT Bundle.

**Other updates**

- Added support for deploying Windows 11 25H2.

- End of Support Notice: Support for OSD on RHEL 6 and SLES 11 has ended. This is the last OSD release that will work on these operating systems. No further updates or fixes will be released for OSD on RHEL 6 or SLES 11.

*Resolved Defect Articles:**

- KB0120902: Error restoring captured recovery partition in windows bm deployment

- KB0121967: Run only in-place upgrade fixlet run twice at the same time causes failure

- KB0125154: Fix Relaydownloader temporary folders on deployment media creator

Does the "new Windows Bundle" was developed by HCL?
If I want to make customizations to it, is there a reference I can look?

Hello,
Please note that custom modifications to the tool are out of scope and not supported.
However, if you can provide some details on your ultimate goal, I can check if there is a recommended approach.
Thanks,
Sergio
BigFix OSD L3 support

On previous version, I was able to add an additional screen which contained a "Computer Name" and "Asset ID" and the customer was able to add those information - after that , there was a script that changed the computer name and configured the "Description" on the Windows OS with the "Asset ID"

I Will create a package and try to understand how it actually works - But I want to understand if there is an Offical reference I need to look into

Did you check if the option "Prompt end user for properties" can help for this purpose?

Tried that, it allows "Computer Name" but it also allows network configuration, which is not required by the customer. And it also does not allow the option to enter custom information like "Asset ID"
