.NET updates for November?

Hello-

WSUS is reporting November .NET updates are needed for my Windows servers, however there are no .NET updates for this month in BigFix currently.

KB4586082
KB4585207
KB4586082

Thanks,
Chris

In the patch release post for this month the patch team noted that “Microsoft has released .net content which are Non security and will be released in the next 2 - 3 working days

Thanks for the info, that really messes up my tight patch and reboot timeline.
Having to reboot servers twice because the patches weren’t all released at the same time when Microsoft is able to do it, makes for a hard sell to management when they want to know why we’re using a patching solution that can’t provide the updates all at the same time. :disappointed:

(don’t get me wrong, I love BigFix)

Thanks,
Chris

Hello,
We completely understand your point here.
We were tracking the .NET updates very closely on the PT day. MS notified about these updates late in the evening EST time at least in the MS catalog page. If these were Security updates, definitely we would have went ahead and published them yesterday.

The content for these updates will be published today, 11/12.
Thanks for understanding.

@bma - when will be. Net patch available in bigfix?

This is only my second monthly patching cycle using BigFix to apply windows updates to a small subset of our Dev/Test servers. Currently just seeing if BigFix would be a viable replacement for our current WSUS process.

Does anyone happen to know how often this happens with the .NET content? We have a set schedule with our Dev/Test environment to update on the Thurs and Fri after Patch Tuesday. I’m not complaining that it’s late, just need info in case management asks.

@drothert can you help answer @jpope question?

.net Patches are now available in bigfix console

Reason for Update:

new non-security .net updates for Nov 2020

@jpope, @jpope, For Patch Tuesdays, the team typically prioritizes the security content mentioned in the Microsoft security portal https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide.

For November, it looks like the .NET framework update releases are not security updates (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=2020-11%20.net) so the turnaround times for can be a bit slower.
If they had been security updates, they would have been released with the original batch of November fixlets.

Did anyone notices .net frame 4.5 above patches for Window 7 and Window server 2k8 …The patches have the .exe extension instead of the .msu.
