Need one hint from experts - Test License expired

If I am using a trial version of Bigfix and it is expired. After expiry will Agent script work on client?

I am not a Bigfix admin but using Bigfix to integrate with another product. When I am running a script, I get below error in console in View action info pane:

The computer is not licensed:
Status : error
Start time : Not executed
End Time: Not executed
Exit code: None

Why I am asking this because, my action script is failing and as I am in testing phase, so I need to confirm is it because of license or there is some issue in license.

What my script does is, at start it downloads one zip, for that download, status is cached on server, after that it send some files on client temp directory but no file reaching there.

Having not used a trial version I can’t say for certain, but based on the message I would say that the client will not run the action with an expired trial license. You can contact your licensing admin if you need to extend a trial or switch to a licensed version.

Hello Jason,

Thanks for you reply.

What I am doing now is I took another windows 2012R2 standard machine and installing bigfix again. I am expecting I will get another 30 day trial license to test my integration. But here in new installation I am using MSSQL DB from old server. I have created a new DB there and I am able to connect my new server with remote database.

Now while installation, it comes to a step when it asks for license.pvk file gathered few steps back during installation. I give the path of license file and after entering the password, I am getting error popup: class NoAuthorizedSignature (class X509VerifyError<7>)

After clicking on OK over popup, installation wizard continues…showing "Starting the Bigfix core services, please wait. and after sometime setups complete and Diagnostic tool shows below error:

I’m not sure that it’s even possible to install a new deployment over an existing BFEnterprise database with a new masthead and private key. The existing database has entries that are digitally signed with the original key pair, and the actionsite file on the clients would have the older public key.

I’d strongly recommend trying to get your original trial extended or seek out a permanent install. Creating new temp licenses in 30-day increments is not likely a sustainable path.

Hello Jason,

Thanks for your reply. Yes that was correct info you shared in last reply. Now I have installed new Bigfix with local mssql.

Sorry to ask again, but now when we run a script from TADDM, it copies one file to Bigfix server Uploads directory. File is coming there successfully. Now, action script is trying to download it and then I am getting error:

““http error 52 server returned nothing (no headers no data)””

Please help .

Regards

What…what URL are you requesting, or what is the ActionScript attempting?

Funny, we usually see a question like ‘I’m doing X, it isn’t working’ without the error messages or results; you gave the error message, not what you’re trying, and I don’t really know what to do with that :grinning:

Hello Jason,

Sorry, for not posting in correct way.

I am able to resolve some of errors. Currently I am getting below error:

Waiting for downloads to be mirrored.

Status: Pending download.

Zip file it is downloading is of 200 KB.

Below is the URL it downloads from : http://ABC:52311/Uploads/7d54133c2d642cbc5434423dcc3d4a27dc53256f/taddmaasd_common_vsbl2154190.zip

Above file is present at location, I checked it.

When I wget above URL from client server, it downloads this file without any issue.

Please help. I am stuck here.

Hello Jason,

If you require any logs for this, please let me know. I checked relay logs and logs on client but didnt find anything relevant. If you require i can share.

Please suggest.

Thanks

One more thing, we have configured proxy IP also and I have put localhost, client ip and other relevant IP’s in exception list.

You may also need to put the hostname itself, vsbl2154047.vsbl2lab.com, into the proxy exception list

I have set _BESClient_ArchiveManager_OperatingMode=100000000 i.e 10MB.

I took an hint from a index file which got created on Bigfix server but ni actuall zip copied on bigfix. In index file it was showing max size exceeded.

Unique-ID: 6279999
Archive-Size: 1832960
MaxArchiveSize: Exceeded

So I have increased that too. Now when I start new action, this index file is not updating and only previous one is there.

One thing I noted in client logs, which I pasted above:

Command succeeded setting “_BESClient_ArchiveManager_OperatingMode”=“2” on “Fri, 08 May 2020 23:04:25 +0530” for client (action:185)

then again there is a command succedd which sets above value to 0 again:

Command succeeded setting “_BESClient_ArchiveManager_OperatingMode”=“2” on “Fri, 08 May 2020 23:04:25 +0530” for client (action:185)

Any suggestions, where I can troubleshoot this??

Thanks in Advance.

Hello Jason,

Could you please share your inputs.

One thing I checked, when i do telnet from Bigfix server to client on port 52311, it shows connection refused. I also checked wget from bigfix server, that is also connection refused.

FYI, I have verified BESCLIENT process running on client.

-bash-4.2# netstat -tulnp | grep BES
udp6 0 0 :::52311 :::* 30487/BESClient

Please suggest.

Not having direct access to the root server is pretty typical. The client will be uploading via it’s Relay, not connecting to the root server directly.

Hello Jason,

In this testing environment, we have only two servers one is Bigfix and other is client. If you are saying direct access donot require, then what could be the issue here. Why I am getting error:

@jason: If you could share some troubleshooting in this scenario that would be helpful.

Thanks

It’s really unusual to have problems uploading files that small… Is an antivirus blocking access to the files or something like that?

No, there is no firewall in between. The strange thing is when I use Bigfix server itself as a client, then also I am getting same issue and getting upload error.

I think I am missing some important property to be added.

Thanks Jason for your guidance. My integration is successful now. Below property made the difference:

_BESClient_ArchiveManager_OperatingMode
_BESClient_ArchiveManager_MaxArchiveSize

Now could you please help me with the information from where I can procure License, which you mentioned earlier, a small license for Patch-only which is affordable.

Also if possible, please direct me to the way where we can request for extension of trial version.

Hi Bakshis, can u please suggest how u resolve the error I am also getting same error it will be helpful for me and my team
