Name of vendor for packages installed on AIX machine

Hi,

I am looking for the below relvance :

  1. Names of all packages installed on AIX machines

  2. Versions of all packages

  3. most important of all the vendor name of installed package.

  4. to check whther the particular package is licensed or not ? (this property needed for all teh unix flavours such as AIX,Linux,Soalris)

I don’t think a check for if a package is licensed or not would be easy. That would probably require custom relevance for every package.

The rest of that info should be provided through analyses from IBM already, though I have never looked for AIX specifically. They definitely exist that report on installs and versions on PC / Mac. If there is a similar inspector for AIX it should be trivial to dump out the info.

I have searched for AIX relevance to find out the vednor of AIX package but its not available on IEM even in the relevance inspector guide.

It would be helfull if you can provide me the link or the relevance which can do so. Also for checking the licensed package could you give me one example so that i will take that as a base and work on it.

How would you determine the vendor of a package on AIX in the command line? Or where can this data be found in the file system?

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “licensed package” honestly, but if you want to determine if a package is a paid app and has some sort of serial number or other licensing information associated with it, then that will likely be different for every package, so the relevance would be different every time.

through commans line i am unable to extract the aix package vendor name …below is the command wich i have tried to find out existing tags of installed fileset on AIX machine and as per my knowledge tehre is no such flag which gives vendor information:

$ lslpp -Lc BESClient

#Package Name:Fileset:Level:State:PTF Id:Fix State:Type:Description:Destination Dir.:Uninstaller:Message Catalog:Message Set:Message Number:Parent:Automatic:EFIX Locked:Install Path:Build Date

the term License package means i am trying to find any flag or fileds which get set or displays that particular package installed on AIX machine is licensed or freeware…

If you cannot determine the Package Vendor or the Package Licensing type from the client computer itself in some way either through a command line or through a GUI, and the information doesn’t exist on the client normally, then you cannot get the information through relevance.

You would need a tool that could look up this information for you from another source.

You could report on all packages installed through relevance, then query the installed packages data in a different tool through session relevance that would provide the Vendor and Licensing information.

The other option would be to have a command line utility or something that could query the license and vendor information on the client itself from a system that you created that had this information or somehow from the internet.
