Multiple Issues when sending Fixlets and Tasks to Clients

(imported topic written by Fultzer91)

I am new with BixFix, but have used Trend’s Office Scan in the past, and I’m finding it very difficult to use the ESP Console to send out these “fixlets” and “tasks” becuase I get a lot that come back “” or “Not Relevant” (even though they reported back to the Console needing the fixlet or task)? I have over 16,000 clients at over 60 sites. What I’m finding is that I need to trouble-shoot each individual “” or “Not Relevant” issue and at his rate I’ll be here until this time 2015!

A lot of the “” or “Not Relevant” Fixlets/tasks fail with the “ntrtscan.exe” can’t be deleted when sending out the "

CPM Critical Patch 0001

Core Protection Module - Deploy NTRtScan.exe version 10.58.0.1016" Fixlet, also among other Fixlets and tasks.

We are currently on Version 7 and the ESP Console and it’s a Nightmare! The most confusing thing I have ever seen in the 28 years I have been in this field. It’s like whomever designed it has no idea on how end-users will use it? I’m sorry, but it is very, very, very poor design! Does anyone know if Version 8 is any better? I have seen screen shots but haven’t used it yet.

I know that it sounds like I’m venting and I probably am but does anyone have any insight/suggestions/help that might guide us in a better direction to get BixFix to function/work better like it suppose too?

Thanx,

Fultzer

Hi Fultzer,

It sounds like you haven’t had a very good experience so far… Here are my thoughts fwiw:

  • The “not relevant” / “” issue sounds like a problem that needs to be solved. You shouldn’t really see that much. I would suggest talking to your sales engineer or calling support and they can try to figure out what it is (here are some common reasons: http://support.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/kbdirect.pl?id=173)

  • One of the common complaints in earlier versions of BigFix is that certain applications (like the Trend integration) were difficult to understand for new users. A big part of 8.0 was a UI revamp that tried to make it much more intuitive for you to figure out what to do next (setup, deploy, configure, etc.) We have heard pretty good reviews so far with version 8 interface, but I would expect you would need to try it to be sure.

Hope that helps,

Ben
