MS10-105 (KB2288931) False Positive

(imported topic written by jlehr91)

About 500 out of 900 false positives on this one. Action completion text shows failed with 17025 on all of them (17025 means “already installed”, yet all Actions within show completed. Windows logs show “Windows installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Microsoft Office Standard 2007. Product Version: 12.0.6425.1000. Product Language: 0. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.” So that appears also as a successful exit. Attempts at manual install of patch say its already installed/not needed. So since Big Fix says this usually means corrupt patch and to remove it/reinstall it I attempted uninstall through Add/Remove Programs and that just starts then exits with no message and goes away, even that will not uninstall it.

Any hints on How to get it not to fail when it gets 17025 (already installed) or the original fixlet to not show it as relative?

Any help appreciated.
