MS SQL - Remote Connection

We are planning on using MS SQL server for our BigFix installs and they will be located in a cluster environment which our DBA’s manage. is there any need to install a local client on the big fix server? or can we just connect to the MS SQL?

Thanks!

The BigFix Server installer will add the ODBC client for MS SQL driver that’s needed, no need to setup any SQL client yourself.

If the SQL server requires “Windows Integrated” authentication, you’ll need to run the BigFix Server installation as an account that has rights on the SQL database, and you’ll need to change the Services’ “Log On As” account to a Domain account that has rights to SQL.

If it uses “SQL Authentication”, you’ll be prompted to supply SQL credentials during the setup (and will need to keep those handy any time you run the BES Admin Tool)

@JasonWalker,

That is great to hear! I will keep these notes for the installation date.

Thank you for the response,
