Note that iphone has technical limitations that don’t allow background processes which hurts agent technologies quite a bit…

iPhone OS 4.0 is rumored to have some background application support. We will find out more next Wednesday…

There’s more to it than just background processes, they’ve also closed a lot of APIs that we need to inspect through… still, I’ll be checking in with Cupertino after they do whatever it is they’re doing next week, in case anything has changed for the better.
