Missing Relay Version 8.2.1312.0

(imported topic written by N8R2_Christopher_Reed)

I seem to be missing a fixlet to update my one relay to version 8.2.1312.0. I have the fixlet for 8.2.1310.0. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, how did you remediate it? I am totally stumped. I have completely blown away my relay and rebuilt it, but the fixlet just does not populate. Is there a way I can find the setup file for the relay update and just install it on the machine manually?

Thanks in advance.

yes, same problem for me. I think IBM support said that since the 8.2.1312 update was just for the main TEM server/console, that there wasn’t going to be any relay/client upgrades. However after I ran the BESInstaller extractor, i noticed that I now have 8.2.1312 client setup.exe files on my Main TEM.

Under your health checks, do you see any errors for your relays being outdated? I have an error that says I need to upgrade my relay.

8.2.1312 was for the app server. All your relays and clients will remain 8.2.1310.

There actually is a 8.2.1312 version of the client, found in the BES Installers folder on the BES server. There are not, as far as I can tell, any 8.2.1312 relay or client fixlets. This needs to be addressed - what version of the client should I be using? Are there any issues with running an 8.2.1312 client with an 8.2.1310 relay?

Submitted a request to Development (#52617) to publish deploy and upgrade tasks for Window relay version 8.2.1312. Shouldn’t be long until they are published.

Any ETA on this?

8.2.1312 has been available for 2 months now and there are still no fixlets for relays or clients. Also, I understand that BESAuditTrailCleaner.exe and the BEScomputer remover tool have not been updated either. I don’t recall this ever having been an issue in the past. What is going on?

Hi Corey,

What’s going on here is that there are no changes between the 8.2.1310 and 8.2.1312 windows & unix agents. Because of this we did not push out upgrade fixlets because we did not want to cause people to do unnecessary upgrades for no purpose.

AnnaMin’s post in the http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=452109 thread lays it out in a little more detail – as you will see there, it is even more complicated because there is also currently a different version of the Mac agent available.

So you are absolutely fine to run your 8.2.1312 agents with a 8.2.1310 relay.

Sorry for causing so much confusion here.

cheers,

peter
