Migrating ILMT BigFix between computers with different operating systems

To perform ILMT migration between computers with different OS, there is an IBM KB. There is no mention of DB in the KB. We have both ILMT and BigFix applications and databases hosted in the same server. Please let us know on how to plan the approach.
Current OS: Windows 2012 R2
New server OS where we want to migrate: 2019 Standard
ILMT current version:9.2.31.0
BigFix version 10
SQL 2019 Standard

That should use the same steps as migrating the BigFix Inventory database at https://help.hcltechsw.com/bigfix/9.5/inventory/Inventory/admin/t_moving_database.html

If it’s the “backup and move SQL data” step that is confusing, I suggest spending some time to get familiar with SQL, and perform a dry-run exercise before moving your production services. Microsoft has a tool to assist in SQL migration, described at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/migrate/guides/sql-server-to-sql-server-upgrade-guide and related documents linked there.

The DMA tool there provides a wizard; usually I just perform the steps manually though - backup old database, restore to new server, recreate users and permissions, update database functional level, and re-attach Inventory to the new database.

If you’re familiar with SQL this is not a huge task, but our Services team does offer migration assistance if you’d like to reach out and set up an engagement. Feel free to send me a private message here, or email me Jason.Walker at hcl.com and I can get you in touch with the right people.
