Migrate to 11.0 from 9.5

Is it possible to reuse the same masthead from bf server 9.5 running on rhel 6 to another installation with rhel 8 and bf 11.0 keeping the same IP and hostname ?

Yes, it is possible to reuse the same masthead from your BigFix server version 9.5 running on RHEL 6 for a new installation on RHEL 8 with BigFix 11.0, provided that the new server maintains the same IP address and hostname.

Please refer to migration documentation for Linux:

Migrating the BigFix Server (Linux)

I recommend reaching out to your HCL Technical Advisor or HCL Client Experience Manager or simply open a support case with HCL Product Support and they will assist you with all the necessary details.

Also see the important notes regarding DB2 here - Installing and configuring DB2

We can no longer provide a free IBM DB2 entitlement with BigFix 11, you’d have to provide your own DB2 license & installation. For new Linux-based installs we’d recommend MS SQL Server on Linux as the database, but if you’re migrating from 9.5 you’d need to stick with DB2.

I’m not sure about the technical and legal issues of installing and upgrading a DB2 copy from the BigFix 9.5 media, or whether existing customers can migrate the DB2 entitlement that came with their older BigFix license. @Aram do you know who could clarify that?

Existing BigFix 9 and 10 customers with a DB2 entitlement can continue to use their DB2 entitlement with BigFix 11.

Reference: See the Notes section from BigFix 11.0 - the latest and greatest BigFix release - available now!

“DB2 is not distributed with BigFix 11. For existing BigFix 9 and 10 customers with a DB2 entitlement, the entitlement remains. For new customers on BigFix 11, a DB2 license must be acquired.”
