Hey guys, I keep a copy of the masthead file with the installers and have so since day 1. Since then, we have updated licenses and what not and produced new masthead files with updated licensing information. Should I be replacing the old masthead files in my images/installers with the latest and greatest? Or, will the masthead update itself once it contacts the main server? Thank you
The masthead file largely does not change, except for one or 2 parameters.
Gather Interval is the main one, plus endpoint locking defaults.
You can use the BigFix Administration Tool and “export” the new masthead after you edit the configuration.
The Clients will update their masthead once they register and gather the latest actionsite, yes. That said, it doesn’t hurt to update the masthead associated with your BESInstallers, and this can be done by clicking ‘Change’ or ‘Modify’ on the Installation Generator in Add/Remove Programs (or Program and Features):
Sounds good, thanks guys!
Somewhat related question. Our masthead file references an email address of an employee that is no longer part of the company and thus no longer a valid email address. Does this matter at all? I dont think it does but looking at this thread made me think about it and ask…
Its not really used at all and I’m not sure if you can change it or not but it would have to originate from the licensing system
ok, thanks for the quick response, thats pretty much what I thought and why I have not done anything about it for over a year now
