We have a mixed Mac and PC multi-site network and have installed the BigFix Client on all systems. The PC’s are reporting all changes to the BES server, however the Mac’s are not.
After the installation and initially reporting to the server, the Mac clients stop reporting. Any changes to the system such as installing RAM, updating software, etc are not reflected in the reporting on the BES server. We have confirmed that the client/agent software is running on the Macs’s - the Activity Monitor shows “BESAgent” and “BESClientUI” as running processes.
In contrast, the PC’s report changes a short time after being rebooted.
Two quick things I can think to check: Mac Firewall and Agent Logs. First check to see if the firewall is on and / or blocking traffic on 52311. Second look through the agent logs and see if it is trying to report to the bes server / relay.
We have a baseline for mac that includes “Mac Firewall is Blocking BES Traffic” just in case.
The log files indicate that the connection to the server is successful on port 52611, not 52311. I suspect this may be a contributing factor, but how/why would the client initially report to the server after being installed, then not sent any updated reports?
