Lotus Notes 8.5.2 FP4 could not install with system account

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

hi @all,

we installed in our environment Lotus Notes 8.5.2 with FP3 over TEM. That works very fine. Our OS is Windows 7 64-bit.

Now we have some troubles and should rollout the Fixpack 4 for the product Lotus Notes 8.5.2.

The installation not work.

We tried to run a cmd.exe in system account (psexec -s -i cmd.exe) and run the installation without the TEM environment.

And the installation also failed!!!

The FP3 is working fine with the same installation parameters.

We opend an PMR that the FP4 could not installed in system account.

The answer from IBM is:

LO66515: 8.5.2 FP4 INSTALL FAILS WHEN ATTEMPTING USING THE WINDOWS SYSTEM ACCOUNT.

“Local Fix”

“Using the admin ID for the install.”

Bad answer. This is no way on 2500 Clients to run the installation with admin privileges, because our admin password is different on each client!

There are the option in TEM to run the installation with “RunAsCurrentUser.exe”. But our users have NO administrative privileges.

So this could not work.

We think there is an mistake in the exe or msi in the Fixpak 4 of Lotus Notes 8.5.2 or a wrong path in the msi file.

If we run the installation with a local admin, it works.

There are possibilities to run the installation in a admin account from TEM?

How does other companies deploy this fixpak?

Have anyone a similar problem or a solution to deploy this fixpak.

Any ideas from IBM colleagues?

Thanks Andi

I’m not sure what packaging tools you have available, but there are tools available to monitor a software install and create a custom MSI from the results. You could use that to deploy the changes.
