Java 7u25 Sha and size changes

(imported topic written by Pete F)

Just came to pre-cache the Java 7u25 32 and 64 bit offline installer and it looks like the SHA and sizes have changed since the original fixlet was created,

Any chance of the fixlet being re-issued please?

Cheers.

Pete

I can confirm. I uploaded them on Thursday June 20, 2013 and they are changed as of June 24, 2013. We had some install issues with the 32-bit version, as it will lead to a CORRUPT Update after the fixlet is ran on Win7x64. However running the CORRUPT Update fixlet will fix it on the test machines so far.

Below is the information as they show now:

prefetch jre-7u25-windows-i586.exe sha1:0adf48a414d81d2c7fafe93298644d9e26a5706a

size:31714216

Old data that matches the fixlet as of June 24, 2013:

prefetch jre-7u25-windows-i586.exe sha1:08ce588fb3668e987a0fa93becf754e9c8027d51

size:31714728

If the values change, why isn’t Oracle incrementing the version number at least, makes me suspicious when they can change the download like this. Oracle should provide a checksum so we know we are getting the correct installer.

Answered that Oracle provides MD5 checksums for 7u25, however they have updated to the newer download they have now:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-se-binaries-checksum-1956892.html

jre-7u25-windows-i586.exe

jre-7u25-windows-x64.exe

I did not check this with the previous download, however it seems that the current fixlet is now incorrect. I would suggest checking against this in the future. However we should tell Oracle that this is not acceptable as there is no notice that they made changes to the downloads.

Thanks for letting us know the change. We will look into this as soon as possible.

The size and sha1 have been changed and the fixlets have been re-published. Please check the version 584 of Updates for Windows Applications site.

Thanks for the update, sorry to knitpick tho, the description still has the old SHA1 value.

Good catch!

I should not have missed this part. The descriptions have been updated. Version 585.

Did they again changed the Size (see attached Screenshot from the Oracle site) ?
