Is The Linux Firewall Running?

I’m looking for a relevance statement to indicate whether a firewall is running on a Linux box - or a lot of Linux boxes… I had thought that looking for the process iptables would accomplish this, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Hello,

In the BES Support site there are a couple of firewall fixlets:

  1. RedHat Firewall is Blocking BES Traffic - BES Client
  2. SuSE Firewall is Blocking BES Traffic - BES Client

If you look at the relevance of these fixlets it should get you started with determining whether or not the firewall is running.

Those fixlets aren’t yet updated for RHE7 for example though so be aware of that.
