InstallShieldEngineUpgrade Fixlet prefetch fails HTTP Error 404 File Not Found

BigFix fixlet “TROUBLESHOOTING: Upgrade InstallShield 11 Installation Engine” has relevance for five VMs on our network but the fixlet fails at the prefetch (download) step.

Observation:
The BigFix Action Script calls
http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q108322/InstallShieldEngineUpdate1100.exe

which redirects to
https://resources.flexera.com/tools/installshield/Q108322/InstallShieldEngineUpdate1100.exe

The following KB at https://support.hcltechsw.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0095477 recommends changing HTTP to HTTPS in the prefetch statement, which results in an HTTP Error 404 File Not Found

Does BigFix plan to release a new fixlet?

What site is this Fixlet in, and what problem are you trying to resolve? I’m looking for a new URL for their update engine, but haven’t found one; the Flexera article I found still references this broken link.

If it was this Fixlet from BigFix.me… an update is probably unlikely, unless there’s some kind of need for it. The Fixlet is over ten years old, and I wouldn’t expect it to be allt hat useful today. https://bigfix.me/fixlet/details/414

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your replies. The fixlet showed up in the BigFix Console when the applicability relevance evaluated to true for 5 VMs on our network.

I wasn’t aware the fixlet was that old. I didn’t see a date on it. I thought I was being proactive by running it prior to our next BigFix Update. I will just ignore it moving forward.

I didn’t realize this was in BES Support…thanks for bringing it to our attention!

I’ll check with the Support team and see whether there’s an update available for this, or whether we need to remove the fixlet entirely. I still haven’t located an updated version, so my first inclination is that it may be an end-of-life product and the download may not be available anymore.
