Install previous month of Windows update

Hi Bigfix team,

Due to Bigfix will push Windows update patch monthly which means the update package will be replaced monthly.

But I have a request is that I would like to install only previous month of Windows update, such as select and update 2021/12 windows update in January, but not install 2022/01 windows in January.

Is it possible to do that?

Thank you.

Yeah, the content is still in the patch site even though it’s older - just create a new baseline with the content you want and you should be good to go.

Another option is to use the client setting _BESClient_WindowsOS_EnableSupersededEval. This will allow you to not have to create a custom copy as long as the patch is still available from Microsoft.

MS released yesterday fixed OOB updates. So you an option to wait for the new Bigfix site release, and install those.

for Win 2017 up to 2022, there’re cumulative updates. so you can install those bypassing normal problematic previous Jan updates.

But for Windows 2008 up to 2012R2 the updates seems to be non-cumulative. So probably you will need to install the problematic previous Jan updates before. although, most likely can be done together with one restart in the end.

You could leverage patch policy to do this. Have it create the “policy during” 2021/12 and then actually patch during 2022/01.

Thank you guys for the helpful solutions!
