In WSUS, not in BigFix (KB4538484)

Hello,
Are these updates going to be available through BigFix? These were released in WSUS with the Feb batch of patches. …or is this something that will be strictly a WSUS patch?

I’d expect that patch to be made available in the ESU site since it’s effectively a pre-req for ESU, but it is not yet currently available as far as I can tell. It’s possible that some of the non-KB article fixlets address this functionality, though I haven’t had a chance to look into it in detail.

@SmokyMTN Thanks for the alert - we are working on these Fixlets and plan to release into the Windows 2008 ESU Patch Add-on site (and KB4538483 for Windows 7 ESU Patch Add-on site)

Brolly33, Thanks we are looking for those prep packages as well.

FYI we also ran into issues activating Microsoft License with the fixlet: ESU Key Management: Install and Activate MAK - Windows Server 2008 SP2 and Windows Server 2008R2 SP1.

Our proxy server requires user authentication before you can get out via the proxy. Since BigFix is using the system context for license activation it doesn’t have access through. Manually activating while logged on to a machine works.

We are going to have to get a no auth rule setup on our proxy server for the following Microsoft urls for it to work with Bigfix:

I’m not sure whether Proxy MAK activation via VAMT (Volume Activation Management Tool) works for ESU activation. Do you use that tool?

If the tool works, and you’re using VAMT, we might be able to build some content to activate that way.

Any here using VAMT who can speak to that?
