Hello all,
we are running a BESAgent Client 9.2.0.363 on a Linux Platform as well as the Endpoint Manager Server. After installation of the BESAgent Client 9.2.0.363 on a new Linux Box, I could execute the Install Scanner function. It runs without any problems. But the Initiate Software Scan in not visible for this system. It is shown on the system only where IEM and ILMT is running. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks and Kind Regards
Hendrik
I can’t say for sure, but I’m fairly sure your issue is your site subscription settings.
How many computers show up under “Subscribed Computers” under the SUA external site?
all system are shown there. I could install the scanner for all systems. But for some, the Initiate Software Scan in not visible,
Check if catalog was propagated, otherwise initiate scan will not be relevant
I think this is the question. We have now deployed the Software Catalog on the missing systems and it works. I assumed, that the catalogue will be deployed automated whenever a new scanner is installed via IEM. But this seems not to be the case. It seems the catalog has to deployed by hand from the IEM for every client.
@Hendrik
Catalog is sent to all endpoints automatically, every time new catalog is uploaded to SUA it will be propagated.
However if for some reason it fails (3 times in a row with 1h period intervals), action will be again reapplied only after next catalog update.
You can do manual propagation using fixlet from Catalog Upload panel in SUA, to make sure all your endpoint have updated.
Just one more comment.
If there is older catalog on the endpoint and new catalog propagation fails, impact is limited since older catalog allows for initiate scan fixlet to run. So possible impact is some software which has been added in latest catalog is not discovered for that specific endpoint.
If there is no catalog at all, impact is bigger, since no software is discovered. (other than one discovered by package data analysis)
The initiate scan won’t be relevant unless the scanner is installed. Is the scanner installed on all of the clients in question?
Hi!
How to do that? Software Catalog Download already executed on my ILMT/IEM server, and imported manually to the server. Then I’ve done Data imports, so that ILMT detects the new BES client machine.
Still I cannot do Initiate Software Scan on this new BESClient Machine
Try to find out using below fixlet on which or what relevance of initiate software scan is not getting satisfied.
ID - 15
Name - Analyze the relevance of a fixlet or task.
This will help you to drill down the issue.
so when you install the catalog in ILMT, there is an option to generate the relate fixlet for exactly this catalog file on this server. The fixlet you can import into your BigFix Environment and run it whenever it is needed. This fixlet will then install the catalog on this clients where are newly connected. Hope this helps
