IBM BigFix Patch now supports Office 2016

BigFix Patch for Windows is pleased to announce that it is extending support to include Office 2016 and covers the following applications.

  • Access
  • Excel
  • OneNote
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • Project
  • Visio
  • Word

IBM BigFix helps Office 2016 users to update these applications through the Click-to-Run technology and to use the following features:

  • Setup a Network Share location
  • Identify outdated applications
  • Configure Office 2016 to update from a Network Share location or from the web
  • Trigger Office 2016 applications to update themselves

This BigFix release supports the one-time purchase version of Office 2016, which is purchased as a suite of applications (for example, Office Professional 2016) and is different from the Office 2016 version of Office 365, which is the subscription-based offering.

I’m having an issue where when I try to “Take Action” it requests a path, where when I did the same with the Office365 version of the fixlet (#365055) it has three options, CDN, Share, Cache.

Is this fixlet supposed to have the same three options? I don’t see any way to set it to use the local cache, even though the online documentation says that this is a supported configuration.
