IBM BigFix Patch: Content Modification: Updates for Mac Applications (v205) published 2018-09-20

Content in Updates for Mac Applications has been modified.

Updated Fixlets:
The September 2018 update for Microsoft Office 2016 (version 16.17) has been removed and the August 2018 update (version 16.16) has been restored.

Reason for update:
Microsoft has updated the release announcement indicating version 16.17 does not support volume licensing. Applying this update may cause those systems to become unlicensed. We have removed the Fixlets as a precaution.

Actions to take:
For users who are affected, you will need to revert your Microsoft Office 2016 installation to an older version. To uninstall Microsoft Office 2016, follow these instructions provided by Microsoft: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3

I don’t see any indication that this will be restored/supported moving forward. For those of us with user licensed versions, can we get this fixlet re-added with an indicator that its not to be used for VL? Otherwise it will be a PITA to custom build these every month.

If we have a way of detecting if an endpoint is using volume license, we will re-release the 16.17.0 update. But if Microsoft releases patch updates for 16.17, e.g. 16.17.1, then we will support it.
