Is there a reason the MS18-JUL naming convention has been left off these updates?

The Microsoft Update Catalog refers to the cumulative updates at least starting with “2018-07”. For example, for KB4345418:

The Category and Source Severity classifications look correct, it just seems like there is a bit of a disconnect for the name.

If these are “Cumulative Updates” then shouldn’t the previous update from last week be superseded?

Hi mwolff,
The MS18-JUL naming convention is applied to fixlets where the patch is classified as “Security Update”. As these have not been labelled as Security Updates by MS, BigFix has not added the MS18-JUL label in the fixlet name.

DaveG,
The new updates are not classified as “Security Updates” by MS. It is general BigFix practice to supersede “Security Update” content only with other “Security Update” content.

Copy that, thanks for clarifying!
