How Do I Change Computer Type

I have a a variety of computers that have been identified with a wrong computer type. How do I change the computer type from Laptop to Desktop or Server to Desktop?

you would have to check the relevance or what it was used that is making them come up wrong.
are you using the properties under the “Column picker” or are you doing a custom group?

I was looking at the Computer Type in the column picker. I am also rather new with BigFix and I’m not sure I know how to view the relevance of the client deployment wizard.

did you already deploy what you were trying to deploy?

tho you can see relevance code when you are finishing the Wizard. I have found that most people upload and then go back to change the relevance of the new TASK.

so lets say you uploaded an application and when it asked for what versions of windows you wanted it to deploy. did you leave default? because this is what would make it show all of the systems.

Probably because we are running 9.5.7 and how I deployed clients last week is completely different this week.

we are running 9.5.6 I dont think there is much of a difference.

ok, perhaps Im not asking the right question. What are you trying to do and how do you know that you are looking at the wrong type?

Are you trying just to deploy the client? An application?

Is the request how to change the return type because it comes back incorrectly? I also presume this is from the Device Type property you are asking about? There is a setting for this which is below

Requires Client Restart: NO
Description: When set, configure a value to use for the "Device Type" reserved property instead of what the inspector would detect.

I tried your suggestion but it still has my Computer Type as Laptop not workstation. Additionally, it removed the Icon that you see in the very first column when looking at all computers.

Its possible that Computer Type doesn’t get reported that frequently. There is a reserved one that comes back every report, and one in BES Support that only comes back every 7 days.

To validate this send a refresh to the single computer to test it out and see if it changes.
