(imported topic written by ygarti91)

hi everyone

i need to give permission to a user i need him to be able to see only computer that have XP OS

and i don’t want him able to change or edit nothing and also i don’t want him to be able to deploy any fixlet\task

something like read only mode for XP OS system

this is what i have done:

  1. i created a user with bes admin. (i chose do not show this user any unmanaged assets, and i didn’t give the user ability to admin or to create custom content)

  2. then i created a group that contains all the xp OS and i give the user permission to it with assign user management right.

now i have couple of problem with what i have done.

  1. the user can do remove from database the xp computer (something that i don’t want him to be able to do).

  2. that users from some reason have permission on the master operator site fixlet and on the master operator site tasks (and i don’t know how do i remove the user from seeing this site)

thank you very much for your help this is very important to me

Hi ygarti,

  1. You can’t remove the permission for a user to delete a computer. However, the computer will always reappear once it reports in again so even if a user deletes a computer that still has an agent, it will show up again shortly.

  2. I believe that master operator Fixlets/Tasks are visible to all users. If you do not want them to see these Fixlet/Tasks, create a custom site, move the Fixlets/Tasks to the custom site, and grant the appropriate user permissions to the custom site.
