Giving permissions to Console Operator

(imported topic written by sharad91)

Hi,

I have created a user using administrator tool, selected the check boxes - Give the user the ability to create custome content and Do not show this user any unmanaged assets.

In the Console the computer groups are atomatic and globally, and usb is blocked, if any user requires USB access, using tools manage properties i am providing the access to the specific user.

Using console operator tab - for the user selected assign management rights, in the wizard selected a particular group. So now the new user is able to view the computers in the specific group for which the administration rights have been given (the group is automatic and global).

Now i want the console operator to manage the group members USB requirements.

At present the new console operator is not able to do so. By using Tools->Manage Properties he is not able to fulfill the USB requirement.

Please guide me…

Thanks

Sharad

I don’t fully follow your situation Sharad.

Are you trying to get your BES Console operators to be able to see the ‘USB requirements’ retrieved property?

Yes, But the Console operator is allowed to manage only one computer group and the computer group is active global.

Could you list out the column values for the retrieved property as it appears in the Tools->Manage Properties dialog?

Basically:

  1. If it is a global property, they can just right-click on the computers column heading and select to view the property in their list.

  2. If the property is a part of an analysis, you have to view the property in that analysis and ensure the user has access to the analysis.

Hi Tyler

I have attached screen shots.

The screen shots are taken by logging in with BES Console Operator - who is having limited access to computer groups and analysis. He is allowed to manage only one computer group.

As you can see in the attachment, he cant edit or add.

I want the console operator should be able to allow or block the access to USB in his managed computer group, at the same time he must not able to see the computers from other group.
