General Transport Error -- HTTP Error Code 500

(imported topic written by mmurty)

I am receiving the following error message on a few of my nodes.

FAILED to Synchronize - General transport failure. - ‘http://:52311/cgi-bin/bfenterprise/BESGatherMirror.exe?url=http://sync.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/bfgather/redhatpatches&Time=06Aug22:20:25&rand=7591655e’ http failure code 500

What does this code mean and what needs to be done? Assistance is very much appreciated.

Hi mmurty,

What happens when you put that url in your browser?

The error 500 indicates either that the BES Relay is not returning proper results. I would start up a support ticket on this one to try to diagnose your relay issue… or you can try to restart the relay and see if it fixed or you might try uninstalling the relay, deleting the relay folder, and then installing it.

I am getting this error message only with a few fixlet sites and the client goes into a loop:

Fixlet sites are

Client compliance

client manager for firewalls

patches for redhat linux.

We recently upgraded the license.

Any suggestions?

Are you still subscribed to those sites? You might try unsubscribing and re-subscribing…

But you should probably open a support ticket to check it out.

yes i am still subscribed to those sites. I unsubscribed and resubscribed…same result. I unsubscribed and not i do not see those errors anymore. I am going to open a ticket. How do i do that?

Also, after doing that the client is repeatedly restarting and does not indicate any error messages in the log? Why is that? How do i troubleshoot that?
