Future Feature Request for update Scheduling

(imported topic written by snoczp91)

BigFix developers, I would like to ask for a future feature request of the ability to snooze an action, with a specified time to run it later without additional prompting.

Example - an user is presented with a dialogue to install an update, and instead of merely snoozing it to be reminded later, the user sets a specific time (during the middle of the night for instance) for the update to automatically run.

Is this possible?

Thanks and let me know if there are any questions.

Hi snoczp,

If I undersatnd your request, that is how it works today if you specify a “deadline” for an action… Or am I not understanding your request?

Ben,

No, this is not about an administrative set deadline. It is a request for the individual employee to be able to snooze an action/update with the individual ability to at the time they snooze it, set an installation time where the update would go ahead and run. All independent of my administrative deadline that would be later.

Say I snooze an action, ot pops back up later asking me to run it. (All before the administrative/forced deadline). The user should be able to say snooze unti X’oclock, but at X’oclock, go ahead and run the update at that time.

Hope all this makes sense.

I think it makes sense… and I will file the request… but note that trying to express this option in the BigFix Console and the BigFix Agent without confusing people is a pretty tough requirement…

Ben,

Understood. It’s a double-edge sword here. If they snooze and set a future installation time, but forget it and leave programs running when they lock/leave for the day, then have their system rebooted out from under them later, they only have themselves to blame at that point.

Will you note the feature request number here for us.

Thanks.
