Hi,
As previously posted, the BigFix Forum will be migrated to the IBM developerWorks (dW) forum. This is currently scheduled for Dec 1, 2011 (updated from 11/11).
Despite the inconvenience of having to start to use new forum software, I think this move is going to be beneficial for everyone. Not only does the developerWorks forum have better support for attachments (which the BigFix forum never quite got working), but it should fix our ongoing issue with forum spambots. It also has better support for the long-requested newsfeed readers. The new forum will keep your posts counts, but it unfortunately doesn’t have any avatar images or customized titles (sorry Gurus).
Here is what is going to happen:
- All BigFix forum posts, with associated user information, will be migrated to the new dW forum.
- Old forum post links will be forwarded to the new dW forum. After migration, the old BigFix forum application will be shut down.
- All users that currently have at least one post, and have not previously registered with IBM, will be automatically registered with IBM. A dW profile will be automatically created for you using your existing user information. You will receive an email explaining how to login to IBM dW, how to establish a new password, and how you can update your dW user profile information. As soon as possible, please make sure your email address is up-to-date.
- If you are already registered with IBM, your migrated posts will be associated with your IBM user information, as long as you provided the same email address when you registered with BigFix.
- All users that have 0 posts will not be migrated dW, however you can register with dW whenever you like.
Feel free to post any questions…
Thanks!
Ben
