Fixlet 243

(imported topic written by ergo222)

I used this fixlet (its for IE 7) when I still had IE 6. Now every time I try to get online my computer reboots. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Hello,

This forum is for BigFix Enterprise Suite customers that use the enterprise edition of our tool. For help with the BigFix consumer edition, please use http://help.bigfix.com/

You can try re-installing your Internet Explorer version, but if your computer is rebooting at inappropriate times, it indicates a deep problem with the OS or with the hardware. I am not sure what caused it (whether it was a Microsoft patch or whether it was some random issue with your computer), but I don’t think there is much that BigFix can do to help you with that issue. Try contacting your computer manufacturer.

The BigFix application contains a DLL file “PSAPI.DLL” that is incompatible with Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7). If IE 7 is installed and the DLL is loaded, BigFix will no longer be able to display any Fixlet messages. The “PSAPI.DLL” file is no longer necessary and can safely be removed from the BigFix client folder.

Follow these instructions to resolve this issue:

  1. Exit BigFix by going to File->Exit in the menu. If BigFix is not completely shut down you will not be able to delete the file.

  2. Delete the file “PSAPI.DLL” located in the BigFix client folder. By default the BigFix client folder is located at “C:\Program Files\BigFix”

Note: There may be multiple copies of the files “PSAPI.DLL” located on your machine. Delete ONLY the copy located in your BigFix folder.

  1. Restart BigFix.
