Firefox not downloading after adding URL to download whitelist

Hi, I am trying to use the provided fixlet to update Firefox on our workstations. The fixlet states that “You must add http://ftp.mozilla.org/.*, the Firefox download source to the DownloadWhitelist.txt file”

I have that added http://ftp.mozilla.org/.* including several other ways that may or may not have worked, but I continually receive the following error:

“Download error: The requested URL does not pass this deployment’s download whitelist.”

We found two locations where the DownloadWhitelist.txt file existed. Here are the following whitelisted addresses I have put into that file along with their location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Mirror Server\Config\DownloadWhitelist.txt

https://ftp.mozilla.org/.*
http://ftp.mozilla.org/.*
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/118.0/win64/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%20118.0.exe
https://ftp.mozilla.org/.*

C:\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Mirror Server\Config\DownloadWhitelist.txt

http://MANUAL_BES_CACHING_REQUIRED/.*
https://ftp.mozilla.org/.*
http://ftp.mozilla.org/.*
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/118.0/win64/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%20118.0.exe
https://ftp.mozilla.org/.*

Not sure why BigFix is not referring to the DownloadWhitelist.txt file.

The “Download Error” message should show the URL that it’s trying, can you post that?

Also based on having two paths, it seems you’ve had BESRootServer installed twice…can you check the Services applet, and find the path to the BESRootServer service? I’m wondering if you might have a third install on the D: or something, maybe that’s the path you’d need.

Here is the URL provided by the error:

Download requested by client:
URL: ht tps://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/118.0/win64/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%20118.0.exe
Hash: (sha1)5dba5ab509bd6079802b87a0b82dd9b161e6a3ca
Size: 60000520 bytes
Next retry: The download will be retried the next time it is requested

For some reason it won’t let me post links even though I posted several in the original post, but the https is one word

I’ll re-check into the file paths

That does match the first entry you cited from your DownloadWhiteList txt, I wonder if the server install is in a different drive?

Is that space between the “ht” and “tps” a typo? If that’s actually in your prefetch statement, the space must be removed.

No, that’s just the forum’s anti-spam not allowing a new account to post links.

Ah, never mind then.

I have 1 v11 environment and two v10 environments that have been set for about 3yrs now and works.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/.*
https://ftp.mozilla.org/.*

in the file \BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\Mirror Server\Config\DownloadWhitelist.txt

So I think you are OK, maybe there is another setting conflicting, though I don’t have an idea off hand.
but Jason is onto something… You have multiple install situation going on IMO.

Make sure to check for trailing spaces in your whitelist.txt if you’re having issues with your downloads not working correctly, even after updating it with the URLs referenced in the download failure message. I may have been scratching my head for some time this morning over that…
