FillDB unexpected shutdown

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

I started having an issue recently where the FillDB service locks up and stops clearing the Queue, no event log entries, and no apparent reason

for the disruption. I am unable to stop the service and need to kill it manually, then restart it and everything seems fine for a few more days

This seems to happen every few days or so, 1 - 2 times a week

has anyone experienced this behavior ?

Running 8.0.627.0 server and client

I’ve seen that once since upgrading to v8.0. I would see it every once in a blue moon on 7.x too. It seems like there is a client report record that gets corrupt and hangs the FillDB occasionally.

I guess it is possible that the database could get locked up and be part of the problem too… but as far as I know, there aren’t any known issues here…

Are you performing any SQL queries against the database directly? I think that would increase the likelihood of locks…

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

Nope nothing like that…

The only thing Im running against the database is removing Duplicates with the BESComputerRemover -D -f

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

I wasn’t doing any cleanup or backups on the database yet

And it grew to 87gb  and was really fragmented badly

Once I put a maint plan in place and cleaned it all up I haven’t

Seen this issue since

Glad you seem to have the problem solved. I was wondering if you’d be willing to share the details of your maintenance plan? We need to implement a plan as well.

I would be glad to share my maintenance plan, I post something shortly…

Look at the stickies in the BES Performance Tuning section for the maintenance plans.

How to prevent Unable to connect to database Database error? BFEnterprise cannot be opened using user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM or sa, problem is the same. Because of this FillDB I have grey computers and only restart of server is helping, restart service dosnt work. If I double the heartbeat will TEM server less loaded? Is it possible that AV is cosign this? SQL is just for TEM and it is on same server.

You probably want to contact support to try to resolve your issue…
