Feature request for Apple patches on OS X

(imported topic written by atlauren)

Hello,

As OS X’s software update can be driven with the command line
softwareupdate
, please include this as an available action for patches. Such an action would source from Apple’s update servers – or an internal caching/update server, if available. It would be a great addition for flexibility, and also because Apple’s update pipes are likely faster than my remote offices.

For example, iTunes 11.1.4:

wait softwareupdate -i iTunesXPatch-11.1.4

Thank you,

Andrew

Now that 10.9.3 is out, I’m bumping this thread. Yes, please!

I’d also support this method of installing the Mac updates.

No reason to not take advantage of the Apple Command Line where you can!

Has anyone opened an RFE (Request For Enhancement) with IBM yet? Post the Vote link here.
