Excluding computers from groups

(imported topic written by pcaprio91)

In our BES environment, we have 50 groups with systems that are managed by different IT teams.

One of the groups (called Group A) that was created, has the property values of

Includes computers with ANY of the following properties

Computer Name - Contains - XXX

Computer Name - Contains - YYY

Computer Name - Contains - ZZZ

This way in the future, this team will be able to manage over 1000+ servers/systems once the BES client is installed.

But we have other Teams with their own groups (Group B, Group C, Group D) that manage their own computers. But some of the computers that Group B, C and D manage have the same values that fall under the group properties that Group A has set up.

Is there way to EXCLUDE specific system names from one group, so that is is only seen and managed by another group without having to re-create the group(s)?

Hi pcaprio,

How about add a custom setting “ExcludeGroup”=“yes” to computers in group B, C, D. Then add to the definition of Group A: setting “ExcludeGroup” != “yes”.
