EvaluationUser password (BigFix 9.5.14.73)

I’ve installed BigFix 9.5.14.73 with an Evaluation license, but I can’t find anywhere the username / password to login into the console. I saw in another thread that the user should EvaluationUser and the password the database password. But it didn’t work for me… How do I find the credentials for the first time to BigFix console?

If you choose the Express setup, you are only prompted for a “database user” password for the (Web?) UI. One possible scenario is that:

  • The account used to install BigFix evaluation is a local administrator
  • MSSQL is installed locally
  • The BigFix install account does not have the SYSADMIN role in MSSQL explicitly, but inherited from membership in local administrators
  • UAC is enabled

Under these conditions the installer account cannot run the MSSQL Management Console locally on the server under Windows Authentication without elevating, so maybe that’s the same issue with the BigFix console, that elevation is required in order to log in to MSSQL as a member of local admins.
